It's official: Remaining matches of IPL 2021 to be conducted in UAE
The remaining matches of Indian Premier League 2021 will be completed in the UAE. The tournament scheduled for April-May had been suspended midway due to concerns over COVID-19.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the decision to move the tournament to the UAE was made considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year. IPL 2020 was successfully hosted in the UAE across three venues
At a special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, all the members unanimously agreed to complete the tournament.
The SGM also discussed the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which is scheduled to be held in India in October-November.
“The BCCI SGM further authorised the Office Bearers to seek an extension of time from the ICC to take an appropriate call on the hosting of ICC T20 World Cup 2021,” said an official release from the BCCI.
