It's a very young Indian team in transition – Dinesh Karthik ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final
Team India will be playing England in the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-final. This is the third time on the trot that these two teams will be meeting in the penultimate clash of the tournament. RCB’s mentor and batting coach, Dinesh Karthik opened up on why this campaign for the Men in Blue has been a very special one. He also shed some light on with so many players making their World Cup debut, this will be a journey worth remembering for the defending champions.
Talking on the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries about how India’s campaign has been so far, Dinesh Karthik said, “Solid. It's not been their strongest campaign, but one that has taken to the semi-finals so far. I think different players have pitched in at different times. The beauty of this Indian team, I feel, is it's a very young team in transition, but still they have stepped up to the big moment and have gone to a place where they can say if they have two good games from here on, they'll be champions.”
He further added, “And that's ideally where you want to be. I'm very happy for what this Indian team has accomplished, considering for a lot of the players, they are playing their first World Cup. A tough task at the start and they would have learned so much on this trip in the last three weeks, but it's been one which has been filled with a lot of joy and pleasure looking at different players come to fruition of what their talent is.”
