India-W take on Australia in historic one-off day-night Test at the WACA
05 Mar, 2026 By Editor

The Indian women's cricket team will step onto the field for a one-off Test against Australia, starting March 6th. Perth will be the epicenter of all the action as the two teams hope to put on a show.

A day-night Test at WACA will see both the sides going all guns blazing against each other in a four-day rivalry. Currently, the multi-format series is locked at 1-1, meaning whoever wins this Test walks away with the bragging rights. This one-off contest will be quite an intense battle considering India will field several debutants while one of Australia’s most decorated cricketers, Alyssa Healy, says goodbye to the 22 yards after the Test.

India secured the T20I series against Australia, hammering them 2-1. However, the follow-up ODI series saw the Women in Blue faltering badly as they were swept clean by a 3-0 margin. With all of that being said, Harmanpreet Kaur and company will be looking forward, hoping to pen history at WACA.

The Aussies will be coming in with a boatload of experience featuring the likes of Healy, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Georgia Wareham and Ashleigh Gardner. Apart from their big names, they also have a fine crop of young cricketers who can make the difference. India will also be banking upon the blend of youth and experience as Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur will be at the vanguard of events.

Venue watch:

The surface at WACA has always been a conducive one for seamers. There will be ample bounce on offer while under the lights, the pink ball will also move around significantly thereby creating all sorts of troubles for the batters. However, watchful batting against seam and swing might be key to scoring big in the game.
