It was a huge step in the right direction: Faf du Plessis on Virat Kohli’s 58
The last three games for RCB haven’t really gone the way that they would have wanted but the efforts were evident for everyone to witness. The batters put up a decent show albeit being a wee bit slow than what could have been the prized number while the bowlers tried their best to reel the opposition back in only to see their efforts go up in flames in the final three overs of the game.
RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis answered the imminent doubts and shadows and also highlighted what exactly was the need of the hour for him and his men that could piece together their struggling campaign and bring them back to the winning rails.
Talking about the total that RCB posted, he said, “We tried to get 175-180. They bowled well in the middle and kept us down. We started well with the ball but they played under pressure really well as they have in the tournament. Patidar played really well and with confidence. After two bad performances with the bat, coming back was good.”
He then shifted his attention towards the RCB bowlers who had a rare day off in the office. He would conclude by saying, “But the bowlers being taken down by good batting took it their way. There was big side on one side, and there was one over (4th last) where most balls went to the legside.
One of the brighter silver linings for RCB was Virat Kohli's first 50 of the season. "It was a huge step in the right direction to get a solid 50. You want one of your top 4 to get the 70s in the future, so it's good," said Captain Faf.
The Challengers will be up against the Super Kings for their next assignment that will be played on the 4th of May and its result can very well be the line of difference for RCB’s residence in the hunt for the top four.
