It was a good win – Rohit Sharma elated after India’s performance against Bangladesh
Rohit Sharma got off to another electric start in the ongoing World Cup where he tormented the Bangladeshi bowlers early on and looked well en route for another monumental innings, only to fall short of a well-orchestrated half-century. However, that did very little to dissuade the Indian batters of the notion that they will be home well ahead of time as Virat Kohli carried forth the momentum while he had significant help from Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer.
The Indian captain was pretty elated with the display of his entire team and didn’t hesitate in heaping praises on the side after another sumptuous victory that made it four out of four for the Men in Blue in the tournament. Talking at the post-match presentation, Rohit opened up at length on the entire fixture and how India applied themselves clinically to seize the day.
Talking about the victory, Rohit said, “It was a good win, something we were looking forward to. We didn't start well, but the guys pulled it back in the middle-overs and at the back-end. Our fielding has been superb in all these matches, it's something that's in your control, you can put in your best effort. The bowlers were smart to understand what lengths to bowl.”
He also shed some light on India’s fielding efforts that saw a couple of stunning catches grabbed by KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, adding, “Jaddu was brilliant with the ball and the catch, but you can't beat a hundred. We're doing well as a group, a medal for all performances in the playing field and that's something which motivates everyone to do well (speaking about dressing room awards).”
Rohit concluded by talking about the overall situation currently and also sharing a crucial update about Hardik Pandya, stating, “Hardik pulled up a bit sore, nothing really major to worry. We'll see how he pulls up tomorrow morning and then plan on how to go forward. Everyone in the squad has gone through pressure, the crowd is coming in big numbers, the stands are full, they haven't disappointed us, they've been brilliant and I'm sure they'll be louder and louder as we move on.”
