It is important how you start – Deepti Sharma
Deepti Sharma was in electric touch in the curtain-raiser of the India-New Zealand ODI series as she batted deep to help the hosts post a fighting total and then came up with a brilliant display in the field and with the ball. She won the Player of the Match for her special knock of 41 from just 51 balls, apart from getting the big wicket of Georgia Plimmer.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Deepti Sharma emphasized the role of belief in her incredible numbers. She also highlighted the part-by-part plan which redefined India’s momentum while defending a fighting total.
Shedding light on the overture, Deepti said, “It is important how you start and I had the belief in myself. I had the mindset when I went to bat and even on how to provide the breakthroughs. The bat is new but I played with it during the World Cup, I enjoyed it a lot.”
Highlighting the plan while coming out to bowl, Deepti said, “As a bowling unit, we concentrated on bowling well and not think about the total we had on the board, we wanted to bowl in partnerships, that's what we did.” She concluded by talking about the Devine run-out, adding, “I thought throwing was the better option.”
