20 Jul, 2023 By Editor

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup, which is slated to be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Out of the 13 games that are to be played, nine will be played in Sri Lanka while four will be played in Pakistan. The tournament will start on 30th August and will continue till September 17th.

The iconic clash of the arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be hosted on September 2nd in Kandy, both the teams’ opening clash of the tournament. In the preceding edition of the tournament when it was played in the T20 format, India met Pakistan twice. The Men in Blue secured a victory in the opening fixture but in the Super Four fixture, Pakistan had the last laugh as they secured a victory on the penultimate ball of the innings.

The tournament will kickstart with a fixture featuring Pakistan and Nepal in Multan on August 30th. The latest edition of the contest will be played in the 50-over format, with the six teams divided in two groups competing for the grand prize.

Pakistan, India and Nepal have been clubbed in Group A while Group B will witness Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka duking it out. The tournament will see Pakistan hosting four games across a couple of venues while Sri Lanka do the remaining honours.

Here is the schedule for the upcoming continental extravaganza:

The six group-stage fixtures will be followed by the Super 4s that will begin from September 6th. The final will be played between the two top teams of the Super 4 on September 17th in Colombo.
