India start on a positive note with the bat after two tough days with the ball in 4th Test

It was a sunny day at the Narendra Modi Stadium as the Indian bowlers were made to toil with their foot down, tasked with rattling the partnership between Usman Khwaja and Cameron Green as the duo went onto smash individual centuries in the game, pegging India back.

Australia ended their innings with 480 runs on the board, courtesy of the two centurions accompanied perfectly by Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy in the end as the Indian bowlers struggled to pick wickets consistently. Ravichandran Ashwin finished with the best figures for an India bowler from the innings, bagging 6/91 to stamp his authority with the ball.

Mohammed Shami ended with two wickets to his name while left-arm spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel ended with a wicket apiece. India started their innings on a decent note on what seemed like a flat cricket track with runs on offer. India captain Rohit Sharma played an impressive unbeaten knock of 17 from just 33 balls, hammering away two fours while Shubman Gill scored a decent-looking 18 from just 27 balls, smashing a four and a six. India finished their day with 36/0 on the board, eyeing to continue the momentum for the forthcoming day as they will have their task cut out with a big deficit to erase.

As the WTC finale looms on the horizon, India will have to secure a victory in this Test to confirm their final berth or in another alternative, New Zealand will have to suffer a 2-0 defeat in their home against Sri Lanka.
