Australia transcended themselves to the mantle of the ICC Test rankings after a thorough domination of England in the recently concluded Ashes. Playing under their new captain, Australia completely obliterated the visitors, as the latter barely scraped out of a possible whitewash as Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad eked out a hard-fought draw in the fourth Test.

New Zealand and India slipped to the second and the third positions of the pecking order respectively after suffering series defeats at hands of India and South Africa.

The inaugural World Test champions were humbled by India in remarkable manner as the latter chronicled their highest win-margin in Test cricket. India, on the contrary, were humbled by South Africa in the latter’s backyard despite a historical victory at Centurion.

The 4-0 victory for Australia allowed them surge to the top of the points table with a rating of 119 while India found themselves in the third place of the rankings with a rating of 116. The series win over India propelled South Africa to the fifth position with a rating of 101 while Pakistan found themselves in the 6th spot with 93.

New Zealand managed to stay in the second spot with a rating of 117 that came on the back of a series draw against Bangladesh after the latter managed to spark chaos with a remarkable win in the first Test of the series.

Kane Williamson bounced back in emphatic fashion as they bullied the visitors mercilessly in response to the tame defeat in the series opener. India are the only Asian team to find themselves in the top 5 while Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh found themselves in the lower half of the points table.
