India should definitely play two spinners in the coming matches against England: Aakash Chopra
India played four pacers and a spinner in the Nottingham Test, and the move turned out well for them as they managed to get England out in both innings giving them a chance to go for the win before rain spoiled their plans. However, experts are of the opinion that Virat Kohli should back to playing two spinners in the next Test, which will mean the return of Ravichandran Ashwin to the final XI.
Ashwin's exclusion from the first Test had raised a few eyebrows but the Indian pacers ensured that the bowling department did not miss the spin wizard.
But as things look right now, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra thinks that India may consider playing Ashwin in the second game.
"One hundred per cent. You want to play five bowlers and don't want to compromise on your batting, I totally get it. But in that, you should definitely play Ashwin and Jaddu and both will bat well also. It will be unfortunate that you will have to leave out Shardul," said cricketer-turned commentator Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
"You will play your three premier bowlers, who are Bumrah, Shami and Siraj after this Test match - Ishant will also have to wait. That's the nature of the beast, you get injured and someone plays and ensures his place, then it takes longer for you to come back," explained cricketer-turned-commentator Chopra.
He further said that this is the second half of the English summer hence spinners play a huge role in deciding the contest.
The second Test match of the series starts on Thursday (12th August) at Lord’s cricket stadium.
