Ahead of the first ODI between India and Australia, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added T Natarajan to the 50-over roster as a cover for Navdeep Saini, who has complained of a back spasm.

The BCCI also released a media statement on the rehabilitation developments of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma. The Delhi pacer, who has fully recovered from a strain sustained during the IPL, is ruled out of the tour to Australia as he's yet to achieve full match fitness.

"Ishant has recovered completely from his side strain injury sustained during IPL 2020 in the U.A.E. While he’s building up his workload in order to achieve Test match fitness, Mr Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, " BCCI said in a media release.

Rohit Sharma is currently undergoing rehabilitation programme at National Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru. He will be further assessed on December 11. The 33-year-old batsman's availability for the Test series will only be determined after the final assessment.

"He is presently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. Mr Rohit Sharma’s next assessment will be conducted on December 11th following which the BCCI will have clarity on his participation in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia," the press release stated.
