Lack of clarity over Rohit Sharma's injury - Virat Kohli
Team India have resumed their international assignment as they face Australia in the 1st ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Ahead of the all-important ODI series, Indian skipper Virat Kohli answered a few online media queries.
There has been a large amount of uncertainty around the availability of Rohit Sharma for the Test series. When asked about the magnitude of his injury, Kohli did not mince his words, stating that "lack of clarity" has forced the team management to play the waiting game.
"After that he played in the IPL and we all thought he would be on that flight to Australia and we had no information on why he is not travelling with us. There has been no information, there has been a lack of clarity. We have been playing the waiting game," Kohli was quoted as saying.
The skipper made it clear that Rohit Sharma was deemed unavailable two days prior to the selection committee meeting. He further added that Rohit's next assessment at the National Cricket Academy will happen on December 11. The team management in all probability will take a call based on the results of the assessment.
"Before the selection meeting, we got a mail that he is unavailable, that he has picked up an injury during the IPL. It said that the pros and cons of the injury were explained to him and he understood and he was unavailable," he added.
Ishant Sharma, who is also undergoing rehabilitation at NCA, has been ruled out of the tour to Australia. The three-match ODI series will be followed by a T20 series from December 4. The much-anticipated Test series will commence from December 17.
