India hopeful of pocketing Test series as new challenge in Kanpur awaits

26 Sep, 2024 By Editor

Team India is all set to return to the yard tomorrow with eyes on pocketing the Bangladesh series and gaining a crucial hand in the ongoing edition of the World Test Championship. With India slated to play 10 Tests in a row, India won the first game by a staggering 280 runs to kick-start the streak on a high.

One of the major woes for the Indian cricket team is their top-order which failed to impress in the opening contest against the visitors. However, the kind of big names that feature in the list, it is just a matter of momentum and a few viral runs can get them back rolling and roaring. The Indian all-rounders put on a show to savour, first with the bat and then with the ball while the pace trio left the neighbours stumped.

Bangladesh did start the game on a high and replicated the same feat in the second innings. However, dropping momentum at crucial junctures cost them dearly in the first game. They will be hopeful of turning things around even though it is going to be an uphill task considering the formidable unit that India is.

Venue Watch:

The surface in Green Park isn’t exactly a flat track like the other ones in the sub-continent. It is a balanced affair which will offer something to everyone. The pitch will have a bit of softness going forward while with the sun beating down, it will harden up during the latter half of the day, resulting in decent bounce and carry. As far as the reputation of the Kanpur track goes, it is a turning one which may see India bringing in Kuldeep Yadav in place of Akash Deep.
