India eye series as Australia plans to keep on fighting
01 Dec, 2023 By Editor

Team India will be squaring off against Australia for the fourth T20I as history still lurks ahead of the young guns with a chance to wrap the series in their favour. They came menacingly close to clinching the series in the last game, only for a heroic showdown from Glenn Maxwell who seized the match for Australia on the last ball.

Despite a free-flowing batting unit, Team India had their scares with the ball. Prasidh Krishna was hammered away mercilessly in the last fixture and it was the pacer who found himself at the receiving end of Maxi’s blitz in that final over as India went down fighting.

There will be a handful of significant changes made to both the sides with Shreyas Iyer coming back for India while for Australia, they will be sans the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis and Sean Abbott, who have all returned to Australia. The ones who have been recalled to the Aussie side in place of the aforementioned names are Josh Phillippe, Ben McDermott, Ben Dwarshuis and Chris Green.

Australia will be hopeful of keeping the Indian invasion at bay, but with a bolstered batting unit and some decent leadership in the mix, the Men in Blue can very well be set to clinch the series at Raipur. For Australia though, the stakes will be higher but then again knowing the visitors, they can topple any establishment on their heyday.

Venue Watch:

The surface in Raipur has just hosted one T20I where India curled up New Zealand even before they knew. It was an easy walk in the park for the Men in Blue as they chased down a very paltry total with eight wickets to spare. The surface assists the bowlers frequently and if caution isn’t being practiced then batting first can be a tricky business.
