BCCI announces squad for India’s tour of South Africa

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian cricket team in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, which will be starting from December 10th and will be followed by three ODIs and two Tests in Centurion and Cape Town. KL Rahul has been handed over the responsibility of leading the ODI team.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t be a part of the ODI and T20I series as they have requested rest from the board while India’s ace pacer, Mohammed Shami, is undergoing treatment and his inclusion to the squad will be subject to fitness.

However, the experienced duo of Rohit and Virat will return to the Indian side for the two-match Test series as the Men in Blue will be hopeful of laying the ghosts of 2022 when they were humiliated in the Rainbow Nation with some serious turmoil going around India’s captaincy.

Dynamic right-hander Rajat Patidar, who plies his trade for RCB in the IPL, has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian ODI squad, and this tour will also be an opportunity for the young guns to showcase their flair as India A will be playing two four-day matches against South Africa A which will be followed by a solitary ODI.
