India better than Australia in identifying talent: Gregg Chappell

The amount of talent that Indian cricket has today is reflected in how they are planning on having two different sides taking on two different teams in different parts of the world. Although, the new normal is majorly responsible for forcing India into the dilemma of having two different sides, it’s their ability to identify world-class talent that has allowed them the possibility of having a team of white-ball specialists.

Former Australia captain Greg Chappell, who had a controversial stint as the coach of India, is of the view that India have now overtaken Australia as the best team when it comes to identifying talent.

"I think we've already lost our position as the best at identifying talent and bringing it through. I think England are doing it better than us now and India are doing it better than us," Chappell told cricket.com.au.

India on their recent tour of Australia had flaunted their bench strength, trumping Australia in the Test series after losing out some of the senior pros due to a variety of factors.

Chappell admitted the remarkable Test series victory was an example of India's advanced player development system.

"When you look at the Indian team that played in the Brisbane Test that had three or four fresh players, and everyone said, 'This is India's second XI' – those guys had played (extensively) for India A," said Chappell.

"And in all sorts of different conditions, not just in India. So, when they get picked, they're not tyros at all, they're quite hardened international cricketers, Chappell concluded.
