In the end, we got the job done – Lockie Ferguson
It was an all-round display from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they trumped Chennai Super Kings in an all-important do-or-die clash on Saturday night. Lockie Ferguson, one of their overseas fast bowlers had a critical role to play as he clinched the imperative scalp of Ajinkya Rahane while grabbing a fine catch that removed the menacing Shivam Dube.
Talking in a post-match interview, Lockie highlighted the exact conditions that were predominant during the chase. He also underscored the fact that bowling in the second half was incredibly difficult and needed something special to get the Royal Challengers into the winning stride.
Lockie said, “Unbelievable, not sure how to put in words, complete team effort, wasn't easy to bowl at the end, it was very wet. Yash, to get rid of MS and get the job done, it was amazing. It's the nature of bowling here, mix it up and keep the batters guessing. There's a bit of spin as well and we needed to keep the batters guessing. In the end, we got the job done.”
He concluded by explaining why he didn’t want to bowl a yorker in the 19th over, stating, “If I could rewind time but the wicket was doing a bit when bowled on a length. We know how good Jaddu is with the yorker ball, but perhaps we could have tried to. Thankful to Yash for getting the job done.”
