If Arshdeep has a plan, he commits to it: Sachin Tendulkar
Not every day do you get to be complimented by the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar himself, and if you are getting the praises from him, you must have done something right.
As India gears up for their mega-clash against Pakistan on Saturday, they will face some stiff challenges as their arch-rivals come to the tournament with some intense batting. India’s death bowling has been particularly under the scanner in recent times.
Even though last night witnessed India registering a brilliant win against Australia, the bowling in the middle overs produced very little success while the hosts were rampant in the powerplay. It was the last two overs of the game that completely changed its complexion, thanks to Harshal Patel and Mohammed Shami.
However, if there is one bowler who has produced decent spells consistently in recent times, that is newcomer Arshdeep Singh. From whipping those picture-perfect yorkers to rattling the batters with pace and swing, the left-arm rookie has found a common ground between aggression and calm.
In an interview with PTI, Sachin Tendulkar was all praise for this youngster. He said, “Arshdeep has shown a lot of promise and he looks a balanced guy. And whatever I have seen of him, he looks a committed fellow because you can see a player, you can make out looking at his mindset.”
He further added, “What I really like is that if Arshdeep has a plan, he commits to it and that is really, really important in this format as batters are going out and playing those extra shots and some innovative ones. So if you have a plan, commit to it.”
Just to jog your memories, Arshdeep also bowled a belter of a final over both against Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Asia Cup in the Super 4s, where India was left empty handed at the end of it all but the Punjab Kings seamer instilled hopes in the hearts of the Indians.
