I think split coaching has very high plausibility: Dinesh Karthik
Team India is currently in New Zealand to be a part of a six-match bilateral series while this will be followed by a tour to Bangladesh that can very well settle the fate of the WTC finalists. The Indian side that is currently in New Zealand is being supervised by VVS Laxman instead of Rahul Dravid who has been given a break.
A lot of questions have been asked about Rahul Dravid’s absence wherein it is the players who are currently taking the load for the Men in Blue. Dinesh Karthik had a unique response to this question where he explained in detail why Dravid was rested for the New Zealand series.
Talking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “As we speak, on the 30th, the team is going to Bangladesh and this New Zealand series isn't going to get over on the 30th. I don't think he can be in two places at one time. So, it is very understandable.”
Karthik also had an important suggestion for the Men in Blue in order to manage the workload in the midst of the stringent schedule that the Indian team will have to follow in the upcoming days.
RCB’s Finisher Supreme concluded by saying, “That is something which Team India needs to look into after the 2023 ODI World Cup when the contract is up for renewal. I think split coaching is something that has very very high plausibility, with Test cricket getting an interesting dynamic with the World Test Championship which means every two years you have something to play for. So, you will end up having a very different set of players playing Test cricket. In white-ball cricket, you will have players playing both formats but you will see a lot of Test players not being a part of it.”
