I just want us as a team to keep doing the right things – Rohit Sharma

India secured an important win against England in the ODI series opener. After losing out two of their openers early in the game, it was the combination of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel who managed to spearhead the charge for India and what followed thereafter was a rock-solid show.

Talking in the post-match presentation, India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his delight on the win. He also shared some crucial insights on the game, underlining the change in batting order that saw Axar Patel being promoted.

Rohit said, “Pretty happy. We all knew we are playing this format after a long time. I thought right from the beginning we played as per expectation. They did start well but the way we came back was superb.”

Highlighting the reason behind Axar’s promotion, Rohit added, “We wanted a leftie in the middle. It is as simple as that. We know they will spin it back into the left-handers so we wanted a leftie. Gill and Axar batted brilliantly out in the middle.”

He concluded with an overall word about the win in Nagpur, stating, “Overall as a team I just want us as a team to keep doing the right things as much as possible.” India play their second ODI on Sunday which is slated to be played in Barabati Stadium.
