India rode high on the brilliance of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin to get the job done on third day of the 5th Test as England were bowled out for 195, bringing about an innings and 64-run win for the hosts.

Despite Joe Root’s warring knock, the visitors couldn’t get past the Indian bowling attack that was too hot to handle for them. Kuldeep clinched a couple of crucial wickets encompassing the likes of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.

Kuldeep also bagged the Player of the Match award for his haul of seven wickets in two innings combined while also scoring 30 runs in the first innings. Talking at the post-match conference, he shed some light on the entire series, also decoding what went right for him against the English batters.

Yadav said, “It is the hard work I did in the last couple of years and I am getting the reward. I really bowled well in Ranchi, the wicket was slow and the way I used the drift over there was fantastic. I liked the Stokes wicket in Ranchi and also like the Crawley wicket, that was a beautiful ball.”

He concluded by saying, “I just focus on keeping it on a good length and that is very important for a spinner in a format and not thinking too much about what the batter is trying to do. I really liked my rhythm. Credit goes to batting coach, he helped me a lot. Not just the skill aspect, but also the mental aspect. Always backing me in the net sessions.”
