I really enjoyed the series – Yashasvi Jaiswal on his Player of the Series award
Team India rode on a handful of collective displays to turn the tide around in emphatic fashion in the five-match Test series as they surged past England emphatically despite falling behind in Hyderabad to clinch a 4-1 win. One of the top performers for India was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who won the Player of the Series award for his tally of 712 runs.
Jaiswal smashed two double-centuries in the series apart from noteworthy knocks of 57, 73 and 80. Not only did he score a heap of runs but he scored them at a pretty breezy pace, leaving England with a sour taste in their mouth.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Jaiswal provided a simple explanation of how he played the series and what went right for him. Against the robust bowling order of England, Jaiswal seemed troubled very rarely and scored freely without breaking a sweat.
Reflecting on that, Jaiswal said, “I really enjoyed the series, happy with the way I played throughout the series. I was just thinking if I can take a bowler down, I will take him down and that's the plan and there's no backing out.”
He concluded by underlining his commitment to his nation, adding, “Trying to take it one game at a time and always thinking of how I can contribute for my team so that I can keep the team in a winning position.”
