I feel you can’t create this: Virat Kohli on the atmosphere during his stunning knock against SRH

It took four years for the world to see a Virat Kohli century in the IPL, but when it finally came to fruition at Hyderabad, it was a knock that had every single fan and pundit on their feet, applauding a stunning effort that helped RCB secure a critical win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Fielding first, the RCB had their fair share of ups and downs as the SRH foreign imports went about their business in style, with Heinrich Klaasen notching up a century to take SRH to 186 on the board.

Chasing a mammoth total, RCB hunkered down to business right from the word go and it was Kohli who would get off to a blistering start, intensifying the frowns on the faces of the Sunrisers. Knitting together a handful of exquisite strokes, Kohli seemed to be in intimidating touch in the powerplay and what started off as a race to the finish line would soon evolve into a show of almost unparalleled and unrivalled cricketing supremacy.

Smashing his way to a crackling century, Virat Kohli launched Bhuvneshwar Kumar over the deep mid-wicket fielder to bring up that elusive hundred and turn the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium into a cauldron of noise.

He was in rapture while talking about this incredible knock that saw the former RCB skipper lay waste to the Orange Army. Talking at the post-match presentation about that blistering ton, Virat said, “Quite special considering the magnitude of the game. We saw the ball was gripping in the middle. We wanted a solid start but did not expect to be 172 for no loss. I had a quiet couple of games and wasn't hitting as well as I was in the nets. Happy that it all came together nicely.”

Sharing a quick insight about his prolonged battle with the Orange Army, Virat added, “I never look at my numbers. I don't give myself enough credit sometimes despite playing impact knocks. I take pride in playing my situation. I try to stay true to my technique and take pride which helps my team. I think it's the tattoos. Very similar to AB and me batting together. There's a good sense of where we are and how to take the game forward.”
