From Virat Kohli to Faf du Plessis: Top 3 performers for RCB against SRH

In a battle of two South-based teams, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were shouldered with the daunting task of breezing past the Sunrisers Hyderabad and they did that in stunning fashion. Mohammed Siraj and Michael Bracewell put in special performances despite a century off Heinrich Klaasen’s bat, while Virat Kohli’s century lit up RCB’s chase.

Knitting together the highest partnership of IPL 2023, Faf du Plessis and Kohli were the chief architects of RCB’s massive win that landed them in the top four and boosted their chances of making the final dash for the playoffs. After an important win vs SRH, here are RCB’s top three performers -

1.    Virat Kohli – 100 (63)

In a clinical brand of a rampage that left the SRH bowlers scurrying for shelter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Virat Kohli was in effusive touch. From carving technically brilliant shots to sending the ball far and long into the stands, the former RCB captain had his fair share of thrills, rocking the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium with one of those signature masterclasses that the world has known him for. Smashing 12 fours and four sixes, Virat got to his 6th IPL ton and fuelled RCB’s win.

2.    Faf du Plessis – 71 (47)

The RCB captain was yet again in his element, thrashing the SRH bowlers to all parts of the ground and playing a massive role in the record-opening partnership of 172 with Kohli. Faf knitted together a crucial 71, clobbering seven fours and two sixes, syncing perfectly with Virat Kohli in the highest partnership for any wicket in IPL 2023.

3.    Michael Bracewell – 2/13

The New Zealand all-rounder was in fine touch, picking things up exactly from where he left in the preceding game. Bracewell made excellent use of the turn and the additional bounce on offer, wringing the early scalps of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi, setting early alarm bells in the SRH camp. Although he bowled only two overs, his scalps set the tone early for RCB which piled some pressure on the hosts.
