I did some adjustments to feel better: Faf du Plessis
The Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a solid display to seal an emphatic win over the Lucknow Super Giants as they surged to the second position of the points table. There was an early landslide again as at one stage of the game, the Challengers were staring at a dark void with the scorecard reading 62 for the loss of 4.
There were definitely a lot of uncertainties in the middle but Faf played a captain’s knock as he stitched an incredible 96 from just 64 balls that would go on to efface any immediate fears for the Challengers as they posted a significant total of 181 on the board.
The skipper had loads to talk about this impressive win. He was even vocal about important this night was for him as he finally got back to runs. “Yeah, we’re very proud of the boys tonight. We were under pressure again losing the toss. The wicket was quite a difficult one. We also lost four wickets pretty quickly,” said Faf.
He further added, “As in the previous matches, we had one guy stepping up on the night, for me, it was lucky for me tonight, it was my night. I am so happy to make a big contribution and bat right through. It is really good to see that we are finding our way out of trouble every time.”
Faf also shed some light on his preparations, “I worked a little more this week, making sure that technically I am in a good place. I did some adjustments to feel better about it. From my point of view, it is a balance of trusting yourself, knowing it’s right around the corner but also feeling a bit of pressure, that you want a performance so desperately. I am glad that it came tonight and also at a crucial moment against a very strong team.”
