I am just really happy with the win: Glenn Maxwell after his fine display against RR
RCB endured a rocky start to their batting effort against the Rajasthan Royals in their green game on Sunday evening, as Trent Boult removed Virat Kohli (0) and Shahbaz Ahamad (2) within his first two overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
However, it was Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis who turned things around magically as the duo stitched together a crucial 127-run partnership from just 67 balls, providing the much-needed platform for RCB to put on a massive score.
Maxwell scored 77 runs from 44 balls and helped RCB turn the tide around in fine manner, continuing his supreme form in the latest edition of the tournament. Speaking in the post-match conference, Glenn Maxwell talked in detail about his batting position and what exactly he felt out in the center.
Maxi started with his batting position, stating, “It's a position I don't mind batting, I have done it for Australia when we lose early wickets. They have given me the freedom to go out there and express myself. Came into the season with good form, and have that trust from the changeroom, that makes the difference.”
He further shed some light on the conditions, adding, “New ball skidded on nicely, so we had to be busy and proactive. I think the way we ended the powerplay set the foundation, although there was a bit of chaos in the end.”
Maxwell concluded by talking about his dismissal as he said, “I felt it was my job to bat deeper, it was a match-up that suited me and there was some poor execution on my part. I thought if I could just take a single, maybe I could have been useful towards the death overs. Allow the new batters to settle while I could attack. However, in the end I was just really happy with the win.”
