I am grateful to Smriti and the whole management for supporting me – Shreyanka Patil
Shreyanka Patil has proven herself over the course of the last couple of years, not just in the domestic threads but also in the Indian colours too. However, it is well known that for anyone to succeed at the biggest level of all, you need constant support and the affirmation that no matter whatsoever happens, they will stick by.
After what was a grand show in the WPL and last year’s WCPL, Shreyanka was hoping that she would make the cut for Australia’s premier franchise tournament, WBBL. Sadly, she didn’t get picked and instead of being bogged down, she told India Today in a promotional event that it was just an indicator of how she had to turn things around for herself.
Shreyanka said, “I am very happy for the six Indians who got selected and wish them good luck. I am a little disappointed, yes, but I know what areas I must work on. I must work on my batting, and I am going to be the best all-rounder.”
Stating further on the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Shreyanka added, “I am really looking forward to this World Cup, and it is going to be fun. I do not know about tricks, but hopefully, yes.”
She then shifted her focus to the WPL that saw her bagging the Purple Cap with an extraordinary second half, stating, “Everyone would see that I got the Purple Cap, but for me, it was a roller-coaster of a ride. I could not perform at my best in the first half in Bangalore. I was a little disappointed that I let my Bangalore fans down.”
She concluded by saying, “I went back and Malo sir helped me with my bowling. Smriti also backed me. I am grateful to Smriti and the whole management for supporting me at that time. I went back to practice and the second half turned out to be a good one for me.”
