He’s a great T20 bowler: Muralitharan heaps praise on Wanindu Hasaranga

It is not every day that the world’s highest wicket-taker in Tests heaps praises on you and if he is doing so, you must have shown signs of promise at the biggest stage of all. Former Sri Lankan turner, Muttaiah Muralitharan heaped praises on Sri Lankan leggie, Wanindu Hasaranga after his notable performance in Asia Cup 2022.

Not only did the RCB talisman impress heavily in the recently concluded Asia Cup but he was extremely impressive in creating a significant impact in the grand finale where he managed to claim three wickets in the final over that starred the likes of a set Mohammad Rizwan and a couple of hard-hitters in Asif Ali and Khusdil Shah.

Talking about Wanindu Hasaranga, Muralitharan said, “He’s a great T20 bowler. Last 2-3 years, he’s done really well. He’s a young guy. In Australia, definitely, the leg spinner will have more chances then finger spinners. He will be a difficult opponent to bat against. You have to be very careful against him."

The spin legend continued with his praise for the young Sri Lankan side. “We had a very young team in the past few years, we played the best cricket in the Asia Cup. They looked like the best team and deserved to win the Asia Cup,” he added. Sri Lanka will have to surpass the qualifying stages where they will be up against Namibia, UAE, and the Netherlands to challenge for a berth in the Super 12.
