A new dawn awaits for the Men in Blue as they return to action with a five-match T20I series against Australia, beginning on November 23rd. Team India concluded World Cup 2023 as the runners-up and they will be hoping to pose a stiff challenge to Matthew Wade and co.

However, before we dive into the upcoming series, here’s a glance at what happened the last time when the two met for a T20I series which was hosted by India back in 2022.

1.    Australia won by four wickets – Mohali, 1st T20I

India didn’t really have one of the best starts to the series as their bowlers were smashed around, courtesy of an all-firing Cameron Green and a sensational Matthew Wade, who pulled off an absolute swashbuckler despite the Aussies being in a spot of bother. Batting first, India piled up 208/6, thanks to Hardik Pandya’s 71* from just 30 balls and a fifty from KL Rahul. Despite Axar Patel’s sizzling display with a three-fer, Green’s early 61, coupled with Matthew Wade’s unbeaten 45 saw Australia home with four balls to spare.

2.    India won by six wickets (D/L method) – Nagpur, 2nd T20I

Rain played spoilsport for both the sides in Nagpur as the officials could barely sneak out an eight-over game. Batting first, Australia smashed 90/5 as Matthew Wade proved to be the game-changer once again with a feisty 43* from just 20 balls. Aaron Finch provided them a thumping start as well, with an impressive 31. Axar Patel was once again the pick of the bowling lot with figures of 2/13. The Indian batters made short work of that stipulated total as Rohit Sharma spearheaded the charge with an extraordinary 46* from just 20 balls while Dinesh Karthik thumped 10 runs from just two balls as he stayed unbeaten to get India home.

3.    India won by six wickets – Hyderabad – 3rd T20I

It was a pulsating encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium as the two teams produced a cracking contest. Tim David led the Aussie charge with a 27-ball-54 while Cameron Green clubbed 52 from just 21 balls. Axar Patel continued to be the leading wicket-taker for India once again, registering figures of 3/33. Chasing 187, Team India banked on Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a whirlwind 69 from just 36 balls while Virat Kohli played a crucial knock of 63 from 48 that kept India well in the contest. It was a late flourish from Hardik Pandya, who scored 25 from just 16 balls to get India home with a ball to spare.
