As a new-look Team India gears up for a salient challenge against Australia which will be the first block of preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024, a lot will be at stake for both the sides. Both the teams had a phenomenal World Cup campaign, but in the end, Australia lifted the silverware while India finished as runners-up in the prized final.

If we delve into the history of both the sides duking it out in the shortest format of the game, there will be quite a few significant number of names doing the rounds who are not going to be a part of this tournament. As we get ready for a clattering clash of two juggernauts of the cricketing world, here’s a look at the leading run-scorers for India against Australia in T20Is.

1.    Virat Kohli – 794 runs

The Indian run-machine has been ruling the roost with an iron fist in every rivalry for almost a decade now. When it comes to the classic clash of two titans in the sport, Virat Kohli’s bat has been doing some significant bit of talking for a decade now. Virat is the highest run-scorer in the rivalry with 794 runs scored at a strike rate of 143.84 and an average of 52.93. He may not have got a century for sure but eight fifties and a highest score of 90* definitely proves to be a blazing testimony to the King’s royalty.

2.    Rohit Sharma – 392 runs

The second-highest run-scorer for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma holds the feat for being the second-highest run-scorer against Australia too in the shorter format of the game. Almost being a part of this rivalry for a staggering 15 years, the Hitman has proven his worth in time. From 22 matches, Sharma has piled up 392 runs at a strike rate of 139.50 and an average of 24.50. Rohit also has three half-centuries against Australia in T20Is.

3.    Shikhar Dhawan – 347 runs
