He deservingly gets his opportunity: Dinesh Karthik on Abhimanyu Easwaran

India is currently engaged in a fierce Test series with Bangladesh where they are currently in Chattogram playing the first contest of the fray. Without many surprises, they went forward with two of their known openers in KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, which indicated the fact that an incoming Abhimanyu Easwaran will have to wait to get his debut.

RCB wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik, however, heaped plaudits on the Bengal opener and the kind of hard yards that has got him here. Talking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “Abhimanyu Easwaran has been around the circuit for some time now, has done really well and now deservingly gets his opportunity.”

He further added, “I can promise you he’s another guy who has been constantly banging at the door. He has been a very good servant for Bengal in the four or five seasons. His dad is someone who has a fantastic ground in Dehradun, and I have fond memories of going there. That kid is somebody who has worked so hard, I’ve seen him, I’ve played with him, practiced with him. I have seen how hard he works.”

Karthik further said a few words of praise for the selectors saying, “Credit to the selectors for giving a lot of time to these performances that happen in domestic cricket because sometimes it can go unnoticed, it’s good to see them getting noticed.” 

With Rohit Sharma injured, Easwaran was being called up to the squad as a backup opener for the Test series against Bangladesh.
