Harshal Patel’s not had the best of starts to IPL 2023, unable to make too much of an impact with the ball as the experienced seamer has been taken for runs, quite contrary to how he has operated over the last few years.

Over the years, one of his finest traits has been how he has packaged his deliveries as he gets in good shape with those slow bouncers and those wide yorkers, while the latest edition of the IPL campaign has somehow been very quiet for the pace.

However, this is not his first brush with critical times as he has previously been in even choppier waters and has managed to turn the tide around in his favour. Talking about one of those emotional roller-coaster weeks in his life, Harshal spoke out on one of the clips of RCB Podcast Season 2.

Harshal said, “When my sister passed away, I was in grief, as she passed away on 9th of April. I was in grief for a week. I was in quarantine. I was talking to my niece and nephew and everyone back home and I couldn’t go and hug them and cry with them. But then we were doing it on the phone because that was the only option available.”

Then shifting to the happier part of his life, Harshal said, “7 days later my son was born. I kind of went numb for a week, for almost 10 days. I didn’t really know what I was feeling, whether I should be happy or I should be sad. It would all come in waves. There were times when I would only cry 3-4 times every day. And at times, I would see my son on Facetime and be extremely joyful and happy. When you have those polarizing emotions, pulling at you constantly, it can be quite draining. Like I said, I was numb for 10 days.”
