Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell has tested positive for Covid 19 as per the latest confirmation from BBL franchise, Melbourne Stars. The Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder underwent a rapid antigen test after his team’s defeat to city rivals Melbourne Renegades on Monday night and the result came positive.

He has now gone into isolation, still awaiting the result of the RT-PCR test that he has taken after the antigen probe has returned an unfavourable response.

Maxwell was the latest addition to the list of the ones affected by the virus in the Stars ranks as 8 members and 12 coaching staff have already tested positive previously. The situation is so bad for the Melbourne Stars that they were compelled to field a depleted side in their last two fixtures.

However, every cloud has a silver lining and as per the latest update of the Stars, around ten players are all set to complete their seven-day isolation period that will include the renowned likes of Adam Zampa, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile who will be available for the selection in the next game against the Adelaide Strikers.

Despite the depletion of the players, Hilton Cartwright, the man who broke down after the piling covid cases in the Stars camp, hammered a 29-ball-41 that saw Melbourne reaching 126. Despite Tom O’Connell’s valiant efforts, Aaron Finch and Mackenzie Harvey saw the rest of the day for the Renegades.

The Stars have played eight games so far in the current edition of the BBL and have managed to win just three of them, ailing in the rock-bottom of the points table. Their city rivals haven’t done great either as they are just one position ahead in the points table as the win over the Stars saw them climbing up to the sixth spot. The Perth Scorchers continue to dictate proceedings with their pompous all-round display.
