KL Rahul takes a massive leap in the latest ICC Test Rankings

There was a massive change of positions in the latest Test rankings as it was a happy outing for the Indians at the Centurion. KL Rahul, Lungi Ngidi and Temba Bavuma gained the maximum number of spots in the latest Test rankings.

As Rahul blasted his seventh Test hundred at Centurion that marked a remarkable start for the Indian team in South Africa, the feat also helped him gain 18 spots in the ICC Test rankings. He is currently stationed at the 31st position of the rankings.

Lungi Ngidi shined brilliantly in the absence of an injured Anrich Nortje and claimed a staggering eight wickets in the opening Test match, gaining 16 places to finish at the 30th position of the table.

Temba Bavuma’s valiant efforts with the bat helped him gain 16 steps in the rankings to find himself at the 39th position of the points table.

South African quick, Marco Jansen, made his first footfall in the top hundred as he was ranked 97th after a scintillating bowling display in the first Test.

There were other Indians too who savoured a leap in the points table as Mohammed Shami led the list with figures of 5 for 44 that saw him gaining two spots to finish in the 17th position. Another South African fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada climbed the ladder by two places moving into the sixth spot of the rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah gained a spot to move into the top ten of the table while Mayank Agarwal’s dominion in the recent formats helped him clinch the 11th spot. South African captain in the longest format, Dean Elgar also climbed up by a couple of notches after his 77 in the first Test.

Marnus Labuschagne aced the charts for batting while Australian skipper in Tests, Pat Cummins led the list for the bowlers.
