India forged a dynamic outing against the Netherlands to clinch a clinical win and surge up to the top of the points table in Group 2 as the Super 12 continues. Suryakumar Yadav produced a late blitz to see off India’s wobbly start and partnered perfectly with Virat Kohli to propel the Men in Blue to a significant total of 179.

SKY has been a consistent deliverer of goods in the shortest format of the game for Team India and the way he has batted at a breezy pace has been instrumental in the Men in Blue taking down Australia, England and South Africa over the last few months.

Former Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir was impressed by SKY’s seraphic knock against Netherlands, especially on a surface where the ball was doing its fair bit and the boundaries were ginormous. Lauding Surya, Gambhir said on Star Sports, “At No.4, he doesn't(often) get the luxury of batting in first six overs, still being able to score close to 1000 runs at that strike rate. He has taken lot of pressure off whether it is Virat Kohli that he is batting alongside, Rohit Sharma or for that matter even KL Rahul. Whenever he has batted, he has been the aggressor.”

He further added, “He is the one who is taking lot of pressure off the top three and that's the reason why India have been able to get to 180 runs (179) today.” In the contest against Netherlands, India had a shaky start as KL Rahul couldn’t get back his momentum and the duo of Rohit and Kohli needed some time to get off the block.

It was the late introduction of SKY after the departure of Rohit Sharma, that totally changed the narrative of the game as India went all guns blazing. India’s next contest will be a vital one in deciding the fate of their advancement to the semis as they will be up against the mighty South Africans at Perth on Sunday.
