Gameday Bold Diaries: RCB-W stars pick player match-ups they are looking forward to against the UP Warriorz

It’s game day as RCB-W take on the UP Warriorz in the WPL 2024 season opener for both teams. The last time these two teams met, the Smriti Mandhana-led side picked up a memorable win, and the hosts will hope to start off their season with a victory in front of a packed home support.

In the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries, the RCB squad highlighted the individual battles that they will be looking forward to during the match against UP Warriorz. 

RCB-W skipper, Smriti Mandhana said, “I am looking forward to Healy vs Renuka. They have had an interesting contest over the years internationally. Sometimes Healy has got the better of her while at times Renuka has got the better of her.”

Renuka Singh said, “I am looking forward to bowling to Healy. I have claimed her wicket multiple times in international cricket. I would love to continue that.”

Disha Kasat added, “I would really love to play against UP Warriorz because they have Sophie Ecclestone and Alyssa Healy.”

Shreyanka Patil, as ebullient as ever, said, “For me, it is going to be Karnataka vs Karnataka. Bowling to Vrinda Dinesh, looking forward to it. Watch out, Vrinda.”

Seasoned Indian batter, Sabbineni Meghana took the name of a pacer as she said, “There is Anjali Sarvani in UP who is also from Andhra. I am really looking forward to playing her if I get a chance to bat against her.”

Asha Sobhana, the leg-spinner chimed in by saying, “Me and Chamari played together in Sri Lankan first class cricket. I will be really looking forward to bowling Chamari.”

Shubha Satheesh said, “It is going to be a very good contest. UP has got a balanced team.”

RCB’s hard-hitting wicket-keeper, Richa Ghosh added, “It is going to be fun when Healy comes out to bat and our bowlers tackle her. Also we have Devine.”

Finally, star all-rounder Sophie Devine added, “It is always going to be interesting when you are first up against UP Warriorz. Particularly with Alyssa Healy playing against us, I would love to see how Ellyse Perry bowls against her. It’s been a lot of time that we have played on the same team. So I would love to see the challenge up close and personal.”
