Gameday Bold Diaries: RCB-W players and coaches optimistic of bouncing back against UP Warriorz
The Royal Challengers Bangalore Women will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways after two defeats on the trot that has dented them after a dream start to the tournament. In the last home-leg fixture where RCB-W will be hosting UP Warriorz for the second time, Mandhana and company will be seeking their form back.
In the latest RCB Bold Diaries video, the stars and the head coach talked at length about the challenge at hand, also underlining why this is an extremely crucial fixture in terms of the ongoing tournament.
Talking on the video, Ellyse Perry said, “I think the competition has been tough the whole way through. I guess it is really important, the next couple of matches for us, to be really positive which we have been out so far. We just keep on taking these challenges as they come. There isn’t really any difference between playing too much good cricket and not being quite on the mark. It’s probably about being as consistent as possible from here on in.”
Malolan Rangarajan, assistant head coach and head of scouting for RCB-Women said, “It indeed was a good start with two wins. As you mentioned, the last two games didn’t go the way we wanted but what’s important is to see the positives. We’ve done a lot of things very well. You can always refer back to the things, our bowling being our strength, with our spin and Renuka coming good. We don’t have to look too deep into our losses but within those losses there were a lot of positives which we’ve spoken as a team and as a training session today have put into practice.”
He further stated, “The two-run win against UP Warriorz in the first game is actually a rare victory. I think it should be used across tournaments also because teams rarely win that way. There’s 30 required with seven wickets in hand. You have a splendid spell from Asha, so the girls are motivated by themselves. I don’t think they need extra motivation to be honest. But it is a good victory to have when you had two losses back to back. We know UP Warriorz as an opponent, what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are, but we also focus a lot on what we do very well.”
