From Faf du Plessis to Wanindu Hasaranga: Royal Challengers in action in CPL 2022
Faf du Plessis will be starting his latest chapter for the St. Lucia Kings today evening where he will be heading the contingent against a Kieron Pollard-led-Trinbago Knight Riders. It is going to be a clash of stars as the RCB captain will also be having former all-rounder in red and gold, Tim David under his wing.
Faf isn’t the only player, however, to feature in the Caribbean franchise tournament from Royal Challengers Bangalore as Sherfane Rutherford is also going to be a part of the fray for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It was the Patriots who bagged the prized silverware in the preceding edition of the tournament, trumping over St. Lucia Kings in the grand finale as Dominic Drakes turned the tide around in exultant fashion.
Despite the lack of clarity about Wanindu Hasaranga’s availability in the CPL, the Lankan leggie has been chosen by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots alongside the Caribbean biffer, Sherfane Rutherford. Sri Lanka issued a moratorium for the leg-spinner to feature in the CPL because of his involvement in the Asia Cup.
However, if the proceedings go as per plan, then once Asia Cup is done, Hasaranga could be plying his trade for the Patriots while Rutherford will be leading their middle-order. The latest edition of the tournament kickstarted with a blockbuster battle between Jamaica Tallawahs and Patriots yesterday while Faf will be taking the stride for the Kings against the Knight Riders tonight.
