I was completely blown away: Virat Kohli on Suryakumar Yadav's knock vs Hong Kong

Last night stayed witness to some merciless striking from Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav that inflicted severe punishment on Hong Kong after a decent start. Kohli was late to join the groove, while Suryakumar Yadav was the commander-in-charge of India’s rampage that propelled them from 94 for 2 from 13 overs to a staggering 192 from their 20 overs.

Virat stayed unbeaten for 59 from 44 which saw him launching 3 maximums while Suryakumar Yadav blasted a staggering 68 from 26 balls, belting 6 fours and 6 sixes, propelling India past 190 wherein 175 at a certain point in time seemed to be too elusive for the Men in Blue.

The former Indian captain had a front-row seat to Suryakumar’s carnage as he saw the cherry flying to all parts of the ground with the Hong Kong bowlers being hapless spectators.

Talking about Suryakumar Yadav’s swashbuckling striking, Virat said, “SKY played an outstanding knock, a knock that I enjoyed thoroughly from the other end. I've seen so many innings when we play in the IPL [against each other], or that being done to other teams, but this was my first experience of watching very closely. I was completely blown away. I honestly believe that the way you played today, if you can stay in that zone, you can literally change the complexion of the game against any team in the world.”

Before joining Kohli in the middle, Surya had a chat with Rishabh Pant, another hard-hitting moniker in the Indian echelons. The duo had a short discussion about how they can change the complexion of the game. Yadav announced his arrival to the middle in grand fashion as he smashed two consecutive boundaries over the deep square-leg boundary.

Talking about the discussion with Rishabh Pant, SKY said, “When I was sitting inside, me and Rishabh [Pant] was speaking about how we could take game this ahead as the wicket was a little slow. When I went in to bat, I tried to just be myself and do what I love doing. It was a really simple plan: taking the first 10 balls, I wanted to hit three-four boundaries and when I got that, I just kept batting."
