From DK to Wanindu Hasaranga – top three performers for RCB against SRH
On a crackling Sunday afternoon where Mumbai’s sweltering heat played the perfect showstopper, RCB started the day with a green counterblast. Ever since the opening act of the day where Faf would win an all-important toss opting to bat first, it was a show of total domination from the Challengers.
If the batters would put up a show that would scorch the Sunrisers in the first half, the bowlers and fielders would complete SRH’s rout in clinical fashion, laying waste to their prized batting order, skittling them out for 125.
In a mix of so many impressive performances, considering the kind of impact the performances had on the fabric of the game, here's our top three performers from the game.
1. Faf du Plessis
The South African opener would put up another fine show with the bat and would play like a blazing lodestar for a young Rajat Patidar, where the duo would set up the perfect platform for a late blitzkrieg. Faf seemed to be in fine touch as he would fearlessly choose his shots and the upshots were absolutely overwhelming for the RCB skipper. He would stay unbeaten for a 50-ball-73 and more importantly he would anchor the innings for RCB after the early fall of Virat Kohli.
2. Dinesh Karthik
It was a tough call between Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik but if you would go by the status of the game, Karthik’s impact was undeniable. When he walked in to the middle, there were runs on the board but it never felt like a 190 plus coming. However, the wicket-keeper batter made it a point to push it hard and despite being fortunate once, he would make the chance count with a blistering 30 off just 8 balls.
3. Wanindu Hasaranga
The Sri Lankan leg-spinner has made it a habit of belting out one impeccable masterclass after the other as he posted his best figures in the history of IPL. He would claim figures of 4-1-18-5 that would destabilize the Orange Army’s momentum in a ginormous chase. This was also the best figures bowled by a RCB bowler against SRH. He would also become the fourth Challenger to claim a fiver in the antiquity of the franchise and he would move in close contention of the Purple Cap in 2022 as his tally is just one scalp adrift of Yuzvendra Chahal.
