Faf du Plessis picks his ‘fab four’ among bowlers for the 2023 World Cup

With the World Cup on the horizon, cricket experts have already begun to voice out a few names of cricketers who can potentially set the stage on fire in this global extravaganza.

One among the experts was also RCB skipper Faf du Plessis, who named four bowlers who can redraw the contours of the entire tournament with their sizzling displays. Knowing the fact that the surfaces in India are mostly conducive for the batters, it is needless to say that the batters will enjoy a good outing, but when it comes to the bowling lot, they will be eyeing extraordinary performances to get the best out of these surfaces.

Talking about four bowlers who can prove to be instrumental in the World Cup, Faf du Plessis enlisted a detailed explanation backing his argument. Surprisingly, India’s Jasprit Bumrah was not on the list but the South African is backing his RCB teammate, Mohammed Siraj, to come good.

Conversing with Star Sports, Faf said, “I think it depends on the wickets. You know, if the wicket has got something in it, someone like Siraj who just nibbles the ball a little bit both ways, and he’s trying the off stump the whole time. Boult and Rabada, all those kinds of guys are going to be extremely successful. But if there is a little bit of spin, you know, someone like Kuldeep has bowled really well in the last six months. When he gets his tail up and he gets one wicket, you know, the next batter’s coming in, he’s quite tricky to face his first few balls because he spins the ball both ways.”

There are quite a few big names to pick from with the star cast on display at the World Cup, and it remains to be seen if Faf’s picks turn out to be game-changers for their sides in this marathon tournament.
