Faf du Plessis among platinum category players in the inaugural BBL draft

The troika of Faf du Plessis, Trent Boult, and Liam Livingstone will be main-eventing a star-studded platinum posse of the maiden edition of the BBL Draft that was imparted flesh and blood in Melbourne on Monday.

Cricket Australia divulged the complete list of overseas player nominations for the NFL-styled draft that would include 12 premium stars who will be eligible for being picked in the opening round.

The other top stars in the elite category include Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Jason Roy, Sam Billings, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Rashid Khan, and Shadab Khan. Out of the all players headlining the opening round of the draft, Shadab Khan, Rashid Khan, Russell, Billings, and Jordan can also be retained by their previous franchises once the draft begins.

The first draft will be picked by Melbourne Renegades who might be hoping to land one of the seven players who haven’t been previously associated with the club. The second pick will be going to the Melbourne Stars with Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers to follow suit.

The draft will be held on Sunday, August 28th from 6:30 PM after Australia’s opening ODI against Zimbabwe. The current strength of the draft stands at a staggering 279 players.

6. Perth Scorchers

7. Sydney Thunder
