Devdutt Padikkal reveals how Andy Flower and Dinesh Karthik have helped transform his batting

Devdutt Padikkal played another rippling knock as he stayed unbeaten for a sensational 40, providing the all-important stand to Virat Kohli as RCB knocked over RR in their green game in Jaipur.
Despite a couple of silent knocks against GT and DC, Padikkal has been in great touch with scores of 27, 37 and the most recent unbeaten 40 against Royals.
More importantly, he has blended his strokes with aggression, thereby providing a strong number three option to bookend RCB’s batting unit. Talking at the post-match presentation after the RR game, he opened up on his approach in 2025 while underlining the help that he has received from Andy Flower and Dinesh Karthik.
Padikkal said, “I'm trying to bat a bit differently to what I have been doing in the last few years, it is a conscious effort in the off-season and hopefully I can continue batting like this. This year has been more on the technical side of things, I always had things on the mental side under control, technically I needed to change a few things in order to be at my best and I'm doing that. DK and Andy have worked relentlessly on me over the last couple of months and it is working now.”
He also shed some light on his special form against his former team, Rajasthan Royals, stating, “Nothing like that, hopefully I can continue scoring runs against everybody. I love playing for this franchise and I really care for this franchise and hopefully I can continue to perform for them.”
Padikkal concluded by talking about their home run, adding, “It is coincidence, we have been playing some really good cricket, in T20 cricket, a couple of overs can change the game and that's what has been happening at home. We have been losing wickets in clusters and that is derailing our innings. Apart from that we are doing well and hopefully we can translate that into the home games as well”
