Delhi Capitals host Sunrisers Hyderabad with an aim to register a hat-trick of wins
29 Apr, 2023 By Editor

In a clash of the two bottom-ranked teams in the current IPL points table, Delhi Capitals will play host to the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening clash of the Saturday doubleheader, less than five days since the two teams faced off last. SRH are in the ninth spot of the points table with two wins from seven games and a net run rate of -0.72. The Delhi Capitals, albeit winning two consecutive matches, stay rooted at the rock-bottom as they have won a similar number as their counterparts for the day but have a net run rate of -0.96 that has left them entrenched in the 10th position on the points table.

Delhi Capitals would be hoping to secure a third victory on the trot that would shape up their campaign in somewhat of a decent livery after losing their first five matches. In the last couple of games they have played, they have beaten the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad to keep their hopes of making the cut for the playoffs alive. They will be coming into this clash on the back of a thrilling win against the Orange Army as an inspired show from Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje sealed the day for them in a low-scoring thriller.

The Orange Army would expect to try and turn the tide around as Delhi managed to get an upper hand over them a handful of days ago. The Sunrisers saw Washington Sundar bagging 3/28, but their star performer has been ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury, furthering their woes on the front of the playing combination. Heinrich Klaasen would hope that he finds similar form against the Capitals that saw the prior encounter between these two coming menacingly close as he fired a 19-ball-31.

A win is the need of the hour for both sides, considering their current position. Albeit the victory will not do them a world of good but it will at least keep them alive in the hunt for the playoffs and a defeat can be a damning verdict to their aspirations of making the dash for the final four in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
