Mumbai Indians hope to keep campaign afloat against a rampant Rajasthan Royals
In a tale of two contrasting campaigns, second-placed Rajasthan Royals would be hoping to add to their tally further as they go up against ninth-placed Mumbai Indians in the second fixture of a cracking double-header, a historic 1000th match of the IPL.
Rajasthan Royals would be coming to this fixture on the back of a double against the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing edition. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a well-constructed 77 while Dhruv Jurel’s breezy 34 helped the Royals to amass 202/5. Spearheaded by Adam Zampa, they could restrict their counterparts to 170.
The Mumbai Indians had another questionable outing in the latest edition of the tournament as they were drubbed by Gujarat Titans in a lopsided encounter. Arjun Tendulkar and Piyush Chawla were decent with the ball while their batting unit came up a cropper in the face of a ginormous total. Nehal Wadhera scored the highest with 40 off 21 balls while Cameron Green’s late charge did get them to a respectable place but not where they could have hoped for a win.
For the Royals, a win could mean that they inch closer to the top spot again and establish themselves firmly in the race for a top-two finish in the league stages while Mumbai’s only option is a victory. Anything other than a win and they will be staring right down the barrel.
