Delhi Capitals aim to secure a playoff spot as they face Sunrisers
After being hammered in their previous two fixtures, Delhi Capitals will look to seal a playoffs berth when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both the teams are coming into this fixture on the back of a loss. Delhi Capitals have secured seven wins from 11 matches and are placed at the second spot, while the Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to languish at the bottom of the table.
The experienced Shikhar Dhawan has had a good run, while the middle over hasn't hit form in recent games. Delhi need to strengthen a few areas that have afflicted them. Rishab Pant hasn't been at his usual best and this can be appraised from the fact that his strike rate has dropped significantly as compared to the previous seasons.
Among the others in the Delhi batting line-up, SRH will be wary of Shreyas Iyer. The 26-year-old has thus so far scored 382 runs at an average of 38.20. The Capitals have been well-served by the two Protean quicks - Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje - who have combined to pick 37 wickets. They have been ably supported by the spinners led by Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have a plethora of issues to address. The Warner-Bairstow pair has blown hot and cold so far. The top order's inconsistency, coupled with an injury blow to Bhuvneshwar Kumar has troubled the team this season. Manish Pandey finding some form has been a sole source of positive. The addition of Jason Holder has also beefed up the lower middle-order. Rashid Khan, with 14 wickets, is among the top-wicket takers, but there has been very little from the rest of them.
The Capitals will aim to seal a playoff berth with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight.
