Culture is a reflection of senior characters – Mo Bobat on RCB’s winning mindset
RCB stands out in the world of sports for its unique fandom. Beyond cricket, the management and coaching staff have consistently cited their fans as the primary motivation for ending the franchise's 18-year trophy wait.
In the first episode of RCB’s Trophy Quest: The Second Act, Director of Cricket Mo Bobat discussed how the fan base acts as a catalyst for the team’s culture. He noted that his priority has been ensuring players and staff appreciate what it means to play for such loyal supporters.
Shedding light about how the understanding of the Bengaluru culture has worked for RCB, Bobat said, “I suppose from the outset of my time being involved, I've tried to understand RCB and Bangalore as a place and understand what the cricket team means to the people. So the first thing you do is you try and get all the players and new staff to appreciate what it means to play for these fans. They're incredibly loyal fans, they've stuck through the franchise through thick and thin, so they deserve our effort.”
Concluding his thoughts, Bobat stated, “Culture is pretty much a reflection of your senior characters.” He also praised Head Coach Andy Flower for his exceptional track record and ability to manage senior players and the dressing room environment."
