CSK seek vengeance as Sunrisers aim to pull off a rare double over Southern rivals

To cap off an electric weekend, two reckoning forces will collide with each other as Chennai seeks their third win of the season which has seen too much chaos already while the Sunrisers are desperate to put their campaign back on track. CSK will have MS Dhoni back at the helm after Ravindra Jadeja relinquished his captaincy responsibilities.

It was against the Chennai Super Kings that the Sunrisers managed to turn the tide around with their opening win of the season. Ever since then, they have cruised unreservedly with their juggernaut clattering onto a wall called the Gujarat Titans. Despite losing out to the Titans, the Orange Army put up a phenomenal fight that would deem them as a force to be reckoned with in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings suffered another defeat in their last encounter that would see them come very close to Punjab’s stipulated total of 187 but would eventually fall short in the end as Arshdeep Singh and Kagiso Rabada would combine in perfect sync to derail Jadeja and his men’s ambitions.

Both sides will be desperate to secure a win given the contrasting junctures that they are standing in. For Chennai, even though making the cut for the playoffs seems difficult, they will be desperate to build on the momentum at least to spice up the race for the top four.

For the Sunrisers, a loss will deal a dampening blow to their soaring spirits. More than the course of the tournament, it will be a battle to stay alive for the Sunrisers. Given the precarious situation that they are in, one misstep could lead to a nosedive into oblivion.

Venue Watch:

The MCA Stadium offers a balanced pitch that allows both the batters and the bowlers to rack up decent exploits. The last time MCA hosted a game in the IPL, it was between the Giants and the Punjab Kings that had very little on offer for the batters with an aggregate of 286 from the 40 overs played.
