Capitals aim to get campaign back on track against upbeat Lucknow

After a rollicking start to the season, Delhi’s campaign hit an unexpected snag as they were outclassed by the Gujarat Titans in their second encounter. The Lucknow Super Giants started their season on a wobbling note as they were taken down by the Titans but managed to shake off the early jitters as they took down the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on the bounce.

Delhi will be hoping for Prithvi Shaw to find a steady foot after the opener frequently struggled to maintain his consistency. With Dhawan no longer in the hut, a lot will rely on the pocket dynamite for the Capitals to amass a decent total.

Even though it was an emphatic win for Delhi in the opener, it came on the back of a couple of unexpected names.

For the Giants, they will be happy to see Avesh Khan returning handsome figures alongside Jason Holder’s inclination for picking a scalp or two in the powerplays that played an instrumental role in crippling Delhi Capitals in their last game. More importantly for them, both KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock have been in sublime shape even though the latter failed to fire in the last game.

This will be an intriguing contest considering the fact that both sides are packed with power-hitters and given the shorter boundaries, it can very well explode into a full-blown run fest.

Venue Watch:

DY Patil Stadium has played the perfect host to the batters’ madness with occasional bursts of brilliance from the bowlers, owing to the unexpected presence of green. With all said and done, this will still be a run-fest, especially with the attendance of colossal strikers of the cherry in the middle. There will be an added bout of dew in the second innings, making life even tougher for the team defending their total.
