As the Border Gavaskar Trophy draws nearer, Australia suffered a major jolt as all-rounder Cameron Green, who represents RCB in the IPL, has been ruled out with an injury. The towering all-rounder will be undergoing a surgery for his lower spine, where he has copped a stress fracture and this is the fifth time he has done so.

In a statement released by Cricket Australia, it said, “Cam has a unique defect in an adjacent area to the fracture that is believed to be contributing to the injury. After thorough consultation it was determined Cameron would benefit from the surgery to stabilise the defect and reduce the risk of future recurrence."

Green got his clearance to bowl in August. He also delivered 21 overs in the UK. During his bowling stint back in the UK, it never really looked like that he had a bit of a challenge going in. His body withstood the pressure of bowling and he looked in fine nick.

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, the surgery which Green will have to undergo, has so far been done upon 26 people led by the New Zealand-based surgeon duo of Grahame Inglis and Rowan Schouten.
